Princess Anatopsis Solomon - 13 year old Immortal protagonist; daughter of Queen Solomon and Sir Christopher. Wants to be a knight errant, like her father, but mother will not allow it.

Prince Barnaby Georges - 13 year old Immortal son of King Georges. Mother was a mortal maidservant who fled the castle after Barnaby was conceived, enraging King Georges. King Georges took Barnaby away when he was born and went on a rampage through the ghetto, killing hundreds of mortals.

Clarissa - 13 year old mortal; best friend and chambermaid to Ana. Red hair, freckles, very mischievous and a little sharp around the edges at times.

Uno - Barnaby's dog and best friend; a St. Bernard with a dry wit and a constant craving for food.

Charles - small white mouse with very pink eyes and nose; created by Ana in a moment of panic.

Queen Abigail Solomon - witch and mother to Anatopsis; chairwoman of Amalgamated Witchcraft Inc.; hates King Georges with a passion and will do anything to defeat him. Once took lessons with him at Georges Castle, in same way Barnaby has come to Solomon Castle for lessons with Ana.

King Archibald Georges - warlock and father to Barnaby; chairman of Consolidated Necromantic Industries; massive and powerful, bald, with bushy eyebrows and fleshy ears. Is tormented by the humiliation of mortal woman deserting him and of Barnaby being a failure as a warlock.

Sir Christopher - knight errant and father to Anatopsis; Immortal, but a slag - meaning he has some mortal blood in him; tall, thin, white-haired, kindly and loving towards Ana but ineffectual against the Queen.

Mr. Pound - demi-god tutoring Barnaby and Ana; father was a god, mother was a dead mortal; dresses in derby and coat, making him look like the corpse of a butler; incredibly powerful, but body is stiff and clumsy; searching for something called the “Os Divinitas”.

Isak - middle-aged mortal cleaning woman at Amalgamated Witchcraft; friendly to Barnaby, but Uno suspects she is a spy.

Benjamin - mortal butler for Solomon Castle; tall, thin, very sharp and menacing looking; pretends to be mute, but Barnaby and Ana overhear him speaking; involved in some sort of shady operations, but not clear what yet.

Mrs. Tamburlane - Personnel Director and Executive Assistant to the Queen; tall, murderous-looking, with oiled beard, Persian-style clothes, and long curved sword at her side.

Dr. Zivvini - a Hibernian bee; Barnaby's boss in Research & Development laboratory.

Sandborn - a small, red-furred troll; head of the Testing Floor at AW. Has a fondness for dogs--roasted, with salt.
